About the Long Island Warriors Veteran Hockey Team
The Long Island Warriors is a non-profit, volunteer-run program that aims to provide a hockey team for military veterans, active military, and reserves on Long Island, joining a vast network of other Warrior teams throughout the country. Its mission consists of Community, Service, and Advocacy

Community
The team was established to enhance veteran community engagement and foster camaraderie as they transition back to civilian life. This program provides education, training, motivation, and encouragement to individuals who have served in any branch of the Armed Forces, including those with service-related physical or mental disabilities. It offers an opportunity to participate in adaptive ice hockey, tailored to each athlete’s abilities.

Service
The team comprises a diverse network of professionals dedicated to supporting veterans in need of social services related to their military service. It serves as a valuable resource for navigating the Department of Veterans Affairs and other veteran support programs. Additionally, the team organizes events, fundraising initiatives, and volunteer efforts to give back to the community.

Advocacy
Our organization is committed to pioneering new approaches to support the evolving needs of the next generation of veterans. Through our efforts, we highlight the challenges veterans face today and advocate for meaningful change in their care and support.
All donations directly contribute to covering the costs of ice rink rentals, equipment, and tournament expenses for the team.

Why Hockey?
Many ask, “Why hockey?” Supporting the Warriors means backing a movement that reconnects veterans, fostering camaraderie, pride, and healthy habits. Transitioning to civilian life can be challenging, often leaving veterans vulnerable to substance abuse, suicide, and homelessness. By providing a supportive community and positive outlets, the Warriors program is making a life-saving impact.
