The LI Warriors
The Long Island Warriors is a non-profit, volunteer-run program that aims to provide a hockey team for military veterans, active military, and reserves on Long Island, joining a vast network of other Warrior teams throughout the country. Its mission consists of Community, Service, and Advocacy.
Community
The team was created to strengthen veteran community engagement and provide camaraderie to return to civilian life. The program educates, trains, motivates and encourages individuals who have served in any branch of the Armed Forces, as well as those with physical or mental disabilities incurred during service to the United States, to participate in the sport of ice hockey that is adapted to the level of ability of the participating athlete.
Service
The team consists of a vast network of individuals with expertise in assisting veterans who require various social services connected to military service. The team strives to be a resource for assistance with the Department of Veterans Affairs and various other veteran services. In addition, the team conducts various events, fundraising, and volunteerism in service to the community.
Advocacy
Our organization strives to innovate a new way to support a new generation of veterans with various needs. In doing so, the team brings to light the various issues facing veterans today, striving for change in how our warfighters are cared for.
All donations support the team with ice rink, equipment, and tournament expenses.
